Waveleta – Crypto Price Ticker, Charts & Currency Converter

Waveleta – Crypto Price Ticker, Charts & Currency Converter

Description

Show live crypto prices on your WordPress site without putting an API key in your page source. Waveleta adds a price ticker, crypto tables, charts, a heatmap and a currency converter for 600+ crypto markets, refreshed every minute, plus FX reference rates and commodities. Requests go through your own server, so visitors never see your key.

Waveleta is a WordPress plugin for the Waveleta web app. It connects your site to the Waveleta Developer API and renders clean, theme-aware market-data widgets: crypto, FX, equities, commodities and radar signals. Display them through shortcodes, the block editor, Elementor widgets, classic widget areas or auto-insert.

Market intelligence. Early signals. Smarter moves.

The plugin guides you through setup on first activation, keeps your API key encrypted, and includes a full in-plugin help center. Informational only, not financial advice, not a broker.

Features

  • Guided 3-step setup on first activation (API key verification + optional Markets page)
  • Built-in help center with searchable sections, a shortcodes reference with copy buttons, troubleshooting and a copyable support bundle
  • API key encrypted at rest, editable base URL, adjustable cache TTL
  • Widgets: crypto, FX, equities, commodities, radar, sources, ticker, price chart (SVG), heatmap, currency converter, calculator, radar signals and quote card
  • Blocks, Elementor widgets, a classic sidebar widget and shortcodes for every widget
  • Access control per widget: public, logged-in, role or paying members, with a blurred teaser and call to action
  • Membership auto-detect: WooCommerce Subscriptions & Memberships, MemberPress, Paid Memberships Pro, Restrict Content Pro and native WordPress roles
  • Usage caps (monthly calls / spend), a credit meter, per-widget cache TTL and stale-cache fallback when capped
  • Visitor dashboard [waveleta_dashboard]: watchlist and price alerts (email via WP-Cron)
  • Auto-insert ticker or in-content widgets (off by default)
  • Appearance: light / dark / auto, table / card / compact layouts, accent color
  • REST render proxy so the API key is never exposed to the browser
  • Theme template overrides in a waveleta/ folder
  • Template kit: 7 Elementor templates and matching block patterns, created or imported in one click from Waveleta Templates
  • Translations included: German, French and Spanish

New accounts get €2 free (about 1,000 calls), no card needed. After that, market data is billed at €0.002 per API call from a prepaid balance, with top-ups from €20. Create an account and an API key at waveleta.com/developer.

External services

This plugin relies on the Waveleta Developer API at https://api.waveleta.com, a service operated by the Waveleta web app. It is used to retrieve the market data shown in the widgets (crypto, FX, equities, commodities and radar signals) and to verify your API key.

What is sent: your Waveleta API key (for authentication) and the requested endpoints and symbols or widget parameters. All requests are made server-side from your WordPress site; visitors’ browsers never contact the API and no personal visitor data is sent.

When it is sent: when a widget renders and its cached data has expired (cache refresh), when you verify your key during setup or on the Connection screen, and when you click Test connection.

The Waveleta web app operates this service. Terms of Service: https://waveleta.com/terms. Privacy Policy: https://waveleta.com/privacy.

FAQ

Where do I get an API key?

Sign up at https://waveleta.com/developer/join, confirm your email and you get €2 free credit, then create a key (wl_…). Top up from €20 when it runs out. The setup screen links straight to the portal.

Is the data investment advice?

No. Informational only, not financial advice, not a broker. All widgets display an informational-only disclaimer.

Can I restrict widgets to members?

Yes. Each widget can be public, logged-in only, limited to roles, or limited to paying members. The plugin auto-detects popular membership plugins.

Will it keep working if I run out of credit?

The plugin enforces usage caps you set and can serve cached data when a cap is reached, so your site keeps rendering.

Changelog

1.4.3

  • Improved: code quality, security hardening and WordPress coding standards compliance.

1.4.2

  • Fixed: price chart in bundled templates; charts support US equities.

1.4.1

  • Fixed: crypto table, ticker bar and heatmap now show major coins first (BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, BNB, ADA, DOGE…) instead of the first pairs A to Z.
  • New: symbols attribute (comma-separated, e.g. BTC, ETH, SOL) for the crypto table, ticker bar and heatmap, in shortcodes, blocks, Elementor widgets and the Shortcode Builder.
  • New: waveleta_wp_default_crypto_symbols filter to change the default coin list.
  • Improved: tables adapt to narrow columns: secondary columns are hidden in small containers and the table scrolls horizontally if needed.

1.4.0

  • New: template kit — importable Elementor templates (Markets overview, Crypto prices, Currency converter, Single asset, plus Ticker header, Sidebar markets and Paywall teaser sections) and matching block patterns (category “Waveleta”) for the block editor.
  • New: “Templates” admin screen to create a page from any template in one click, or import it into the Elementor library.
  • New: bundled translations for Spanish (es_ES), French (fr_FR) and German (de_DE), including JavaScript strings. WordPress.org language packs from translate.wordpress.org are still used when available.
  • Improved: template titles and descriptions are translatable; pages created from a template use the translated title.
  • Updated: translation template.

1.3.2

  • Fixed: symbols entered as BTC-USD, BTC_USD, btcusd or XBT/USD are now normalized to the exact API format (BTC/USD for crypto, EUR/USD for FX, AAPL for stocks), so quote, calculator, watchlist alerts, ticker and widgets resolve prices reliably.

1.3.1

  • Renamed the plugin to “Waveleta” (folder and text domain “waveleta”) for the WordPress.org directory. Your settings, API key and data are preserved on existing installs.

1.3.0

  • New: guided 3-step onboarding on first activation with instant API-key verification.
  • New: full in-plugin help center with searchable sections, a shortcodes reference with copy buttons, system info, a copyable support bundle and contextual help tabs on every plugin screen.
  • New: persistent “connect your API key” notice until a key is set; widgets show an admin-only placeholder until then (visitors see nothing).
  • New: refreshed branding — logo, admin menu icon, setup and help headers.
  • New: plugin row links for Settings, Help, Docs and Get API key.
  • Improved: sensible defaults throughout; clearer connection testing and last-error reporting.
  • Updated: translation template.

1.2.0

  • Market-data widgets, blocks, Elementor widgets, access control, usage caps and caching.
